Bedale to Leyburn to Reeth is the shortest route but can be tricky to follow and does take a minor road over the high moors ( a challenge there- watch out for tanks!)
Catterick to Richmond to Reeth might be safer.
Note that the road from Markse to Low Row can be longer, narrower and slower than you expect! (Especially if you get stuck behind a tractor!)
If using bunkrooms you need a sleeping bag and probably a pillow. A sheet (fitted?) to cover the matress might be pleasant but is not essential. £15 for B&B per night is a little expensive but bar-meals are quite cheap.
The Punchbowl Inn actually seems to be in Feetham although it claims to be in Low Row.
